2. I haven't been to the dentist for a long time, what should I do?

You should make an appointment with the office and let us know your situation. We will give you a thorough check up and let you know how your teeth are doing.

3. I just moved here from out of state, do you take new patients?

We would love to have you as a part of our family. If you are changing dentists, we would be glad to help you get all of your records transferred.

4. Do you see children?

We love children! They are always welcome at Dr. Bertagni's office. Remember it is never to early to bring your child in to the dentist to get them acclimated to the environment.

5. I have always heard Dentist's hurt??

Dentistry has come a long way. It is becoming a patient friendly atmosphere. New technology and procedures, even the fluoride in our drinking water, have made the dental office painless.

6. Do you give gas(nitrous oxide)?

We feel there is no need for nitrous oxide at our practice. We are often praised by patients for our version of painless dentistry.

7. It is hard for me to get to the dentist because I work.

We are open 6 days a week to accommodate even our busiest patients.

8. What are cavities? How do they occur?

Cavities are a destruction of the tooth enamel. They occur when foods containing carbohydrates (sugars and starches) such as milk, pop, raisins, cakes or candy are left on the teeth. Bacteria that live in the mouth thrive on these foods, producing acids as a result. Over a period of time, these acids destroy tooth enamel, resulting in cavities. This process is also called "tooth decay."

9. How does fluoride help my teeth?

Fluoride is extremely helpful in the prevention of tooth decay. It is found in our drinking water and can also be applied in our office. Fluoride helps to strengthen your teeth's enamel.

10. What should I do if I chip a tooth?

Clean the tooth and call our office immediately. If you knocked out the whole tooth - place the tooth in milk and contact us right away. If you are able to get to the office in a timely fashion there is a chance to reset your tooth.

11. My teeth are darkening. Why?

Darkening of teeth is a natural aging process. There are ways that we can brighten your smile through teeth whitening.

12. What are sealants?

Sealants are a plastic barrier that is applied to the crown of your teeth. They help protect your teeth from cavities by not allowing plaque and other cavity starting debris to attach directly to your teeth. It is a painless procedure that has great results.

13. Is the mercury in my mouth safe?

Mercury in amalgam cavities has been found to show no link to medical problems in worldwide accredited studies. It is a safe, cost effective method of restoration when cosmetic dentistry has been ruled out.
